The suite at Apollo First Med

After Dylan was born, Penri went off to Reception to sort out a room for me. There were so many different types of rooms but the only ones they had available was either the suite or the ward. There was no way we would have gone on the ward, so Penri booked us into the suite. It was very posh and private (will come back to this after) and very nice. See below:

The great thing was there were two beds so Pen could stay in the room with us. The first two days and nights Dylan was in ICU and I kept going to see him every couple of hours. It was good in one way cause I had a lot of help with teaching me to breastfeed. On Tuesday evening Dylan was brought into our room. He was still having light therapy for his jaundice so he was sleeping and spending all his time under the light. They told me to keep the cover over his eyes when he was under the light at all times. I woke up in the middle of the night on Tuesday and his eyes were open and he was looking at the lights. I panicked and flicked the lights off quickly and took him out. After that I couldn't get back to sleep worrying about whether he had the cover on his eyes or not.

A picture of him under the light therapy:

Ok, time to put some pictures of my newborn gorgeous baby boy. This was the first photo ever taken of Dylan. He was one hour old:

And I took this photo when he was 1 day old and still in ICU:

2 days old:

This is one of my favourite (and most treasured photos). Dylan with my amazing doctor (who delivered him), Dr Nirmala Jayasankar:

Me (very unflattering, I know but I'd given birth two days before this photo), Dr Nirmala and two other hospital workers (one doctor, one nurse):

And 3 days old:

Pen with Dylan in the hospital:

While we were in hospital we had several visitors; the first one being Gwen ... she was also the first of my friends to hold Dylan:

Pam and her daughter, Divya visited (at the same time as Gwen):

And we also were visited by Danielle and Andrew, Tatjana and Christine and Phamei, but unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the visits to add.

We got to take Dylan home on Thursday night when he was 5 days old. Leaving the hospital was an absolute nightmare. Just trying to get the bill finalised and the discharge summary from the pediatrician was impossible. In the end Penri threatened to leave the hospital without paying and we packed up all our stuff and he loaded the car before magically the bill arrived and we were able to go. It only took 5 hours from the time we were told we could leave, to us actually leaving!

It was so exciting taking Dylan home and I just couldn't wait to get out of the hospital and be at home with my beautiful baby boy! Here Dylan is when he was 5 days old and back at home. So cute - look at his tiny little fingers:

I love this picture:

See his left ear - I think it was from the delivery as it seemed to sort itself out. Also his left hand is so bruised from the needle he had in it (poor baby):
